Jay Midwood is the Chief of Human Capital for the Central Falls School District in Central Falls, RI, and spent more than a decade working at the national level at the Center for Secondary School Redesign as V.P. of Operations overseeing the development, implementation, and assessment of multiple high school redesign projects funded by the USDOE in support of personalized learning.
For 16 years, Jay has been a leading voice in organizational change and student-driven learning influencing practice and policy at the state, region, and national level. While in Central Falls, Jay serves as the architect for the district’s strategic framework, talent management and teacher pipeline initiatives and was the lead procurement officer securing more than $10M in grant funding in support of the district’s strategic vision for learning and teaching.
Jay is the co-author of, "They’re Not Stupid: Unleashing the Genius of Each Student," published by Rowman and Littlefield in 2017 and his innovative Teaching Fellows program is featured in the Jossey-Bass publication, "Substantial Classrooms: Redesigning the Substitute Teaching Experience," published in 2021.
