Diane Howell

Diane Howell is the District Substitute Coordinator for Hamilton Southeastern Schools, entering her fourth school year in the role. She supports 23 schools, 1,900 teachers, and 21,000 students, leading a substitute team that is passionate about serving students, staff, and the community—“invisibly visible” every day. Under her leadership, the district’s substitute fill rate has grown from 59% to consistently over 90%, the highest in the county.

Diane left corporate America in 2018, where she was a veteran National Sales and Client Services Representative and Manager. She brought her corporate sales and client service successes to the district, building a client-focused, service-driven substitute team.

A proud military brat, Diane grew up traveling the world with her WWII veteran father, who later worked with NASA. Born and raised in Michigan, she proudly says, “once a Michigander, always a Michigander.” She is also a second-generation Hamilton Southeastern family member, with her children and grandchildren attending the district’s schools. Diane is deeply committed to community service and giving back, ensuring that hungry kids are fed, clothed, and supported so they can learn and thrive.
